Turtles detect odours

Article by Archelon Added by: Archelon

Turtles detect odours In a recent paper by C.S. Endres, N.F. Putman and K. J. Lohmann, it was proved that sea turtles can detect airborne chemical cues when they surface to breathe air.

These results provide the first direct evidence that sea turtles can detect airborne odours. Under natural conditions, this sensory ability can help them in foraging and navigation. This research is going on.
